Day 1: Drive to Akagera National Park. 2 and Half hours Drive

From the hotel in Kigali or the airport if you’re to arrive in the morning, our safari guide will pick you and drive you to Akagera National Park. It’s a 2–3-hour drive from Rwanda’s capital city Kigali up to Akagera National Park. You will arrive in time for lunch , to have lunch and then enjoy an afternoon game drive, before you retire at your lodge.   The Park closes at 6pm, and therefore if you are staying in the lodge outside the park you are advised to manage your time well.

Day 2:  Game drives / Boat Ride  

You will have breakfast very early morning game drive before sunrise. This is will give you an opportunity to search and meet so much wildlife that lives in this park. Game drives in the  morning hours give you an opportunity to find those animals that normally go back into hiding once it become too hot for them thus making it difficult to spot them.  You therefore have a better chance of meeting most of those animals that you might have missed during the evening game drive.

You can expect to find animals like lions, there are elephants, so many Zebras are found in this especially now after a number of them were introduced. There are so many buffaloes, leopards and hyena may be spotted, the Jackals, different types of antelopes more so the  kobs, water and bush bucks, among others. Later you will go for  aboat ride along Lake Ihema, for an opportunity to spot water loving animals, like hippos, Nile crocodiles and so much more.

If you’re interested in birds, Akagera park is home to over 400 different species of birds  and through game drives, nature walks and boat rides you can be able to spot some of these birds.
