VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
Whenever you think of visiting the ‘Land of a Thousand Hills’, Rwanda's Parc National des Volcans (PNV) is a must visit . The Park covers 125 Km2 of mountain forest and it is a home to the six Virunga Volcanoes and the world famous mountain gorillas.
Confined within the PNV, the rich forested slopes of the mountains form an aptly thespian natural setting for what is perhaps the most heartrending and unforgettable wildlife experience in the world- gorilla tracking! The enlivening hike to the gorilla’s natural habitat of shady bamboo forest offers implausible sights in all directions, before the trackers are absorbed in the strange closeness of the rainforest, alive with the calls of colourful birds and the prattling of rare golden monkey.
Not even a human being can groom one for the blow of bumping into a fully-grown silverback gorilla, up to three times the size of an average man, yet extraordinarily peaceful and lenient to human visitors.
Parc National des Volcans (French) is administered by ORTPN-Rwandan Office for Tourism and National Parks . Admission begins in the vivacious town of Musanze, located at the foot of the entry of the park. Musanze has for a long time been the base for gorilla visits . It boosts of a stunning backdrop of Bisoke, Karisimbi, Sabyinyo, Mikeno, Mgahinga and Muhabura volcanoes.
