BWINDI IMPENETRATBLE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

Bwindi National Park is famous for gorilla trackingbut there are also hiking trails where you can see a large number of birds and primates.Trails begin at 08:30 am 14:15 daily.

Bwindi NP has three parts,the northern part which is Buhoma in Kanungu district,the southern part Rubuguri in Kisoro district,the eastern part Ruhija in Kabale district.

The Southern part has gorilla groups like Nshongi,Mishaya,Nkuringo and Kahungye which is a new group.The Northern part has Rushegura,Mubare and Habiyanja.

The Eastern part has Bitukura and Orozogo which is also a new group.

The park has clean and simple bandas at Buhoma.There are also 3 privately run campsites in the area along with some middle and up-market tented camps.

It is a 6 hours drive from Kampala to Kabale.Kabale to Buhoma park headquaters takes 3-4 hours and may require 4WD.Kabale-Ruhija-Buhoma takes about 3 hours.The public doesnot use this road much and a 4WD is needed.A bus leaves from Kampala to Butogoto daily aat circa 06:30am.
