Rwanda’s First Conservation & Tourism Exhibition Runs Alongside the 12th Kwita Izina

Kwita-IzinaThis year, Rwanda has for the very first time host the conservation and tourism exhibition and which they scheduled to take place at the same time as the country’s annual gorilla naming ceremony called the Kwita Izina. The fact that they have been organized concurrently makes it the first Kwita Izina Conservation and Tourism exhibition in Rwanda but this year’s Kwita Izina celebration is the 12th of this kind of ceremony since the celebrations begun years ago. This conservation and tourism exhibition is taking place in Kigali at the new Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village and looking at the attendance, the event attracted all kinds of exhibitors, the local and the regional as well as the international exhibitors who are coming from different tourism and conservation sectors. Many of these are not there to just attend but also display their products and services that they have to offer to potential clients.

Both the private and the public sector people came together with the development partners from within the country and other nations like Uganda, Zimbabwe, from Kenya and Tanzania as well as Nigeria, among others because they shared the same passion towards conservation. Such event helps these nations to work together towards achieving both the individual and the countries’ goals.

The tourism and conservation exhibition is the second best event happening in Rwanda right now and it started before the popular Kwita Izina ceremony which is taking place in Kinigi, a place that is located very close to Musanze town just outside the popular Volcanoes National Park.  Kwita Izina is a three day celebration and it started yesterday 28th August and will end on 30th August. Such events are intended to create a strong platform from which they can create awareness about the different countries’ conservation efforts and they are also used to promote the so many different destinations across different countries.

According to Francis Gatare who is Chief executive officer-Rwanda Development Board, Rwanda is happy that it has managed to offer its guests the best hospitality ever that way they will think about Rwanda as one great destination. He made the remarks during the opening of the event and also appreciated all the people from different places that decided to join Rwanda to celebrate this really important exhibition. All these nations have got a mutual interest and that ensuring sustainable tourism development in their own countries. He also said that they will be organizing more editions of the conservation and tourism exhibition and he promised to grow with it. This explains why they encouraged all the conservationists and exhibitors as well as tour operators from every corner of the world to  be part of this event.

Meanwhile, Ms. Belise Kariza who is the Chief Tourism Officer at the Rwanda Development Board also appreciated every exhibitors, she emphasized the importance of the Kwita Izina ceremony as well as all the other national conservation and tourism events that are done every year and are on the Calendar of Rwanda. She said this is not just about celebrating Rwanda’s conservation success but it is also creating a powerful platform for other events and a number of other different activities that focus on environment conservation and sustainable tourism.

These tourism and conservation exhibitions are aimed at renewing and also improve the contacts for business sales and partnerships with different people.  It is events like these that expose a country to different potential clients after they realize it’s such a great tourism destination, they will be willing to introduce other potentials. During these events, all participants meet and network with the locals, the regional and also international operators to learn and share different current trends in the tourism business.
