Different people have different names for baby gorillas

Today being the long awaited day for one of the biggest events in Rwanda which is the Ikwita Izina as indicated on their annual tourism calendar. Many people believe that being apart of this event is a life time honor that everyone would wish to have. Well wishers include Bishop Nathan Amooti Rusengo, Emma Claudine who is the dean Karemera talked to a cross-section of people on the choice of names they would give baby gorillas and why if they were given the opportunity and different people had different names for the babies for example;

Marie Yohana Mukankuranga, would name the gorilla Jack because she thinks it is unique and no one would expect such a name and such a would easily connect with the tourists. Other people include Innocent Muhizi, Mark Mugarura, Marketing Director, at Skol Brewery, Pierre Kayitana who would go for the name Ebenezer which means ‘thus far the Lord has helped us’.

Bishop Nathan Amooti Rusengo, Bishop of Cyangugu Diocese, would name the baby gorilla Mahoro which means Peace because there is need for stability and tranquility and there’s no way we can attain the two without having a peaceful country. Meanwhile, Innocent Muhizi, Head of Transactional Banking and I.T at I &M Bank would go with the name Cyuzuzo meaning a “unifying link. And that is because the Rwanda government has managed to be a unifying link for all Rwandans and if I named one of the gorillas such a name, it would be a constant reminder for Rwandans that they should and must continue being united for continuous development.

There were quite many of them with different names but with a similar message of come as many as you can to attend Rwanda’s 10th Ikwita Izina cerebration today in Musanze near volcanoes national park  in Rwanda. Come one, Come all and enjoy .
