KTB advised to market historical sites

The Kenya Tourism Board has been advised to boost tourism from the beginning by identifying and marketing historical sites managed by local communities.

Peter Kithunga, the managing director of Basiva Foundation said KTB has marketed mainly   the hotel industry yet it is seasonal.

He has advised the board to focus also on other areas like Eco-tourism which provides a beautiful landscape to both international and local tourists.KTB should searching for the historical sites that form the tradition of our country because the country has a number of special historical sites that cannot be found in any other country in the world so they should be marketed.

A number of historical sites like the caves where the slaves used to hide and other exclusive features which have not been known have been identified and maintained by the foundation.

The foundation said the country has a number of tourist attractions but they will not be known by the world unless they have been marketed.

The government should provide funds to the local so that the Nyari depression can be fenced to maintain the forest around the depression which links the well known Arabuko-Sokoke forest to the south.
