SPECIAL POLICE FORCE TO PROTECT TOURISTS DURING THE FESTIVE SEASON

A special police force will be set up by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to protect tourists visiting the parks mostly during the festive season since al Shabaab rebels have been threatening to attack Kenya because of ending soldiers to Somalia to fight them.

Julius Kipng’etich, the manager of Kenya Wildlife Service said the unit will be lively, highly qualified and mobile to prevent kidnappings and terrorism.

The number of rangers will be increased in number from 3,500 to 5,000 in 2015 and the fleet of vehicle will be increased to 1,000 and 14 light crafts will be  parked at the regional headquarters so that they can respond quicker to emergencies.

Julius said Nakuru National Park will be joined with Naivasha and a forensic laboratory will be set up in the country next year.Nakuru National Park will be expanded after buying 6,000 acres of land from Soysambu.

The AP commandant Kinuthia Mbugua in Mombasa told the tourists visiting Kenya that there is enough security in the country so they will be safe during the festive season.
