The Bwindi- Mgahinga protection measures

In an effort to protect both Bwindi and Mgahinga National park, the Bwindi Mgahinga Conservation Trust (BMCT) was established under the Uganda Trust Act in 1994 and it was registered as a Conservation Trust Fund authorized to work in a radius of two parishes that are adjacent to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (BINP) as well as Mgahinga Gorilla National Park (MGNP) also called the Bwindi Mgahinga Conservation Area (BMCA).

These parks are located in south Western Uganda, in the three districts of Kabale, Kanungu and Kisoro. The ecosystem health of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park conserved in harmony with the development needs of the surrounding communities.

The BMCT will promote conservation of biodiversity in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park by investment in community development programs, offering grants to facilitate researchers and ensure ecological monitoring, funding park management and protection, and all other programs that create greater conservation awareness among the public.
