gorilla-permitStarting next year 2016 until 2017, all discounted gorillas sold in the months of April, May and November will cost $450 from the current price of $350. This means that for every one tracking Gorillas this year during the low season will still pay the current fee but every permit which is to be used next year low-season costs $450. The official announcement regarding the increase was made by Uganda Wildlife Authority’s director of tourism, Mr. Engena Raymond during his speech at the Uganda Tourism Forum that was held at Hotel Africana.

He said, in years 2016 and 2017, the Uganda Wildlife Authority will increase the prices of discounted gorilla permits but also offer a discount on the chimpanzee permits for Kibale national park from $150 to $100. With this discount, Uganda Wildlife authority expects an increase in the number of tourists visiting Kibale forest park for its chimpanzees and hope that the increase in the gorilla permit prices will not negatively affect the inflow to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park. Prices will be, from $350 to $450 for the foreign non residents and then the foreign residents who have work permits will pay $400 from $300. He stressed that the promotion will be effective for 2 years starting 2016 until 2017 therefore all international agents should inform potential clients of the changes for proper planning

Mr. Engena also assured members who were present that Uganda Wildlife Authority will not be changing the park entrance fees any time soon. He said the only change made in the area is the fact that operators will be able to pay for the vehicle entrance fees in dollars something that wasn’t possible before. The fee is just $15 per vehicle entry but there is still an option of paying in shillings and in that case it is 30,000 shillings. He urged tour operators and hotel owners to also come up with low season rates in an effort to market Uganda as an affordable destination especially during the marked low seasons that comes in during the months of April, May and November every year.

All travelers should know that all terms and conditions influencing the discounted gorilla permits offer since the year 2013 still do apply. All these discounted permits have to be purchased from UWA and note that the money is not refundable once a receipt is issued. A Uganda gorilla safari is an amazing adventure that everyone should enjoy and AA safaris and tours is the company to help you achieve this.
