RDB AND CONSERVATION TO PROMOTE CUSTOMER CARE IN RWANDA

The Rwanda Development Boards Tourism and Conservation Department has worked together with the hospitality industry to encourage better customer care and service delivery in a number of lodges, restaurants and hotels.

A meeting has been led by the Rwandan Prime Minister because there is need to improve skills in the hospitality industry and this has been followed by the classifying of the accommodation facilities according to the East African Community standards.

Ms. Rica Rwigamba, Head of the Tourism & Conservation Department at RDB, said the hospitality sector is a major sector so customer care should be successful to for every business to operate smoothly. She said the main mission this year is to make sure businesses in the tourism sector offers high quality services and the objective has to be achieved. Those that will not provide the basic requirements will then be dealt with.

RDB has plans of embarrassing establishments that will fail to support standards and lead to disgrace in the tourism and hospitality sector with both the local and foreign clients.

The hotels that will improve their standards will be awarded and those that fail will be punished

Rwanda’s tourism sector has in the current years grown and has the foreign earnings have increased to almost 25% and so has the revenue.
