There is been some information got from Kenya’s aviation blog that there was an incident where the  Rwanda Air’s new B737-700 touched wings with a Kenya Airways aircraft during its stop over at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. Fortunately there no passenger that was hurt in any way but as following normal protocol, all of they had to get off the plane after the incident and returned to the departure lounge to wait for another flight to fly them to Kigali meanwhile this Rwanda Air jet’s has been grounded for some time so that they can carry out some investigation which will be conducted by the Kenya CAA and this has affected the following schedules of the airline some what.

This B737-700 was acquired by the Rwandan government just a few weeks ago from European holiday carrier TuiFly and another of that kind will soon be delivered to Rwanda to join the already available fleet because the other two older B737-500 that were leased earlier will be returned to the lessors at the end of their contract period which will be ending soon.

Till now, there is no information about the level of damage that was done either aircraft or when they will both be return to service for their respective airlines. Fortunately enough is the fact that both Kenya Airways and Rwanda air a few months ago had signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement which covers such incidents as code shares, cooperation on handling and training but also the agreement talks about aligning their respective frequent flyer programs.  So far, both airlines are silent about the matter and their local media in both countries have tried to stay out of the incident.
