MORE GSU SQUAD SENT TO PROTECT TOURISTS AT MARA

Security has been increased at Masai Mara Game Reserve to protect tourists against the residents that have been protesting because of the introduction of an electronic system to improve on revenue collection.

Joseph Nkadado the chairman of Narok County Council said the police officers will maintain peace in the area until the disagreement of the new system is resolved. The protestors have been demonstrating because of the electronic ticketing which has been set up to reduce corruption.

The chairman said the officers will protect the property that has been put at the gates because it has been the target for the harsh mobs.

Nkoidila ole Lankas the Narok South MP has blamed the government of frightening the residents that have been opposing the new system. He said the 50 police officers that have been sent to the area have been issuing death threats to the residents if they do not stop demonstrating.

The local leaders that have been opposing the system of e-ticketing have been threatened and they think the police officers have been sent on a special mission.

Some of the councilors have renounced the 10 year revenue collection contract.
