Rwanda week in China, Rwanda to promote tourism

The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) in association with the Rwanda Embassy to China will hold “Rwanda week in China” said the Rwanda embassy in china.

The week will run from September 1st – 8th and comprises of events which are expected to bring business people, tourism companies together from Rwanda and China according to information from the embassy.

These events include road shows that will be organized in three major cities Shanghai, Shenzhen and Beijing, visits to industrial parks plus manufacturing facilities around China.

The move is meant to promote investment and tourism, according to Samuel Abikunda, Rwanda’s Commercial Attaché to China.

Throughout the event, RDB will promote Rwanda as one of the best tourist’s destinations and Africa’s best place to do business.

Rwanda has been ranked as the second easiest place to do business in Africa according to World Bank’s “Doing Business Report 2018” and has been ranked among the 18 best places to visit in 2018.

“Rwanda Week” in China was organised a few weeks after the successful visit of President Xi Jinping to Rwanda during which he noted that: “Under the leadership of President Kagame, Rwanda has embarked on a path of development suited to its realities, achieved long-term social stability and fast economic growth, and is enjoying increasing influence in the region and beyond”.

Rwanda and China have established strong political ties that should be leveraged on to attract both tourists and investments.

The Rwanda week in China will take place within same time of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) which will be scheduled to take place on 3rd and 4th September.
