RWANDA CLASSIFIES 30 HOTELS

30 hotels in Rwanda have been classified in 2012 after the long awaited grading. Nyungwe Forest Lodge which is owned by Dubai World and Kigali Serena Hotel have been classified as five star hotels in the country.

Four hotels have classified as four star and seven have been graded three star.16 hotels received two star and one hotel received the one star title.

Out of the 30 hotels, 18 are in Kigali and others in Musanze and Rubavu districts in North western Uganda.

The hotels owners have been very happy with the system because it will encourage them to improve on their services and they request the central Bank to ease access to finance more easily so that they can get loans to invest in the expansion and development of their businesses.

The classification system is done according to the East African standards and it has been used in Tanzania and it will be used in Uganda, Kenya and Burundi which havenot classified their hotels using the system.
