KENYA’S TOURISM REVENUE EXPECTED NOT TO RISE IN 2012

According to Kenya’s tourism records, the country received 32% of revenue in 2011 after the country had attracted a number of tourists from new market but according to the tourism minister Najib Balala, the European crisis might affect the growth in 2012 so the growth for this year is expected to be the same as that of 2011.

Travel advisors by the European government and US plus the economic crisis in these countries is expected to affect the industry because the governments warned people from visiting the country because of the attacks and kidnapping of tourists by Somali rebels in Lamu in 2011.

According to Kenya Tourist Board, the organization that is in charge of marketing the destination said they recorded a decline at the end of 2011 because of the attacks.Moi International Airport which is the main entry point to the cost also recorded a small decline in the market because of the slow growth in arrivals compared to Nairobi.

In 2011,the airport received 233,844 visitors more than in 2010 and KTB will invest more in rising markets to develop the sector in countries like China,India,South Korea Africa and Middle East.

Kenya has a number of attraction like Masai Mara National Park and Tsavo which have a number of wildlife plus Mombasa which is famous for the beautiful beaches.
