A number of tourists as well as other people living in Kigali will witness a very high class cultural performances, historical facts, entertainment and leisure activities under one roof at the Kigali Cultural Village.

Rwanda Development Board (RDB) official confirmed that they have finalized the concept of the Village, to be located in Rebero Hill, Kicukiro District. It is worth Rwf3 billion and will occupy a 30-hectare piece of land and hopefully to be opened in two years. The Village’s construction is part of efforts to increase tourism revenues by 25 per cent by 2017.

Mukeshimana who is the tourism product development and facilities officer said that Rwanda’s cultural products have been scattered allover the country but they need to be in one collective place where tourists can easily find them.  This will be done once this cultural village is opened.

He added that the Village is not meant to replace cultural sites and other cultural activities in the country; rather it will complement and market them. It’s one way of marketing the culture of the country to all people who come to Kigali.

This Kigali Cultural Village will have places like hotels and a section will be set aside for cultural performances and related disciplines like handcrafts where visitors can buy souvenirs and other things when they visit the place.
