KTB TO MARKET NEW PRODUCTS DURING BERLIN EXHIBITION

Kenya Tourism Board has decided to carry out marketing of the country as a tourist destination by focusing on new products to describe a wide package at this year’s International Tourism Bourse in Berlin. The organization which is in charge of marketing Kenya’s tourism products and services will attend the world’s biggest tourism fair that will start on 7th March 2012.

The board will use the chance to attract more tourists in the country to simplify the effects of the euro zone crisis on the inbound visitors.

KTB Managing Director Muriithi Ndegwa said they will market new products like culture, eco-tourism, exhibitions, sports and conferences since beach and wildlife tourism is already known.

Other major challenges to be discussed include inspiring jobs and investment in the sector, removing of travel barriers like visa restrictions, taxation and old infrastructure systems.

Ndegwa said the safari and beach destination have been the major attractions and they will always remain the major ones but others cannot be left out so the government has to markets some of the traditional tourism products to make them competitive.
