Rwanda’s Tourism Body Has Fixed the Kwita Izina Celebration Date

Kwita-Izina-2016According to various sources, the government of Rwanda through the tourism agency has already decided on the date when they will be holding the Kwita Izina event. Kwita Izina event is an annual gorilla naming ceremony and these are baby gorillas that don’t have name yet. All baby gorillas born in a particular year get the opportunity to be given names during this event and this year’s event will be held early September. It will be on the first Friday of September which will be the second day of that month (2/September/2016).

Because of the regional integration between Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya, such important events need to be set in advance more so because the months of September and October are really busy months full of so many trade fairs and other tourism events all across the East African region and people have to be a part of such event, now that the Kwita Izina date has been fixed, everyone has enough time to plan for their year and not miss any tourism event because of poor planning.

In East Africa, a Gorilla Tracking Safari is among the most commonly done tourism activities, so his year’s will be the 12th Kwita Izina celebration and at the moment, 19 baby gorillas will be named this year and s usual, the function will be held in Kinigi just outside Musanze town at the usual showground located close to the Volcanoes national park headquarters.

This event is expected to attract lots of conservationists, entertainer and ordinary people who wish to witness the gorilla naming ceremony. People from all over the world and different walks of life are expected easily since means of transport is a lot easier with the existence of RwandAir that connects the whole region to Kigali and once you are in Kigali, it will be very easy to get to Kinigi since it is just a 3 hours drive.

It is however very important that all those who intend to participate in this year’s gorilla naming event book as soon as possible because usually the hotels, the guest house and lodges are fully booked as we approach the date. Rwanda government will be informing the world of any other development regarding the matter as days close in. Hopefully the event attracts as many people as expected, more people than ever seen in the whole of the last 11 years the event has existed.  Come one, come all and support gorilla conservation.
